Situated in the middle of the Museum District, the Contemporary Art Museum Houston served as a foundation for our planned extension. Focused around emphasizing the underutilized tunnel system beneath, this scheme sought to embed itself into the fabric of
the museum landscape without imposing over the CAMH.

Program concerns were addressed by separating different program elements into different ‘folds’ that curved up and out of the existing park area. Not only did these walkable roofs control light, but also helped expand the exterior area around the CAMH for outdoor exhibitions and exterior sculptures.
